10.16 Meta Review

I have a decent idea about what’s going on, but I don’t know why it’s happening. For example, Peeba got a very slight nerf to Fizz, yet it’s one of the worst comps at the moment. Not sure why that is, but let’s take a look at some comps.

Mech Sorc

Mech is back on top baby!

The most important thing, surprisingly, is getting good items on GP and not the Mech. There are frequently games where people put literally no items on the Mech and just stack Viktor, GP and Ekko.

You put in A’Sol at nine as you need a cleanup unit. It’s better than Thresh, Urgot here according to the pros.

Cybernetics

I’m a bit surprised this comp is basically tied in strength with Mech Sorc.

Just put a Giant Slayer on Vayne and throw items around however the hell you want after that. Don’t forget to fast nine!

Astro Snipers

Amazingly, the nerfs didn’t do much to the comp. It’s still an instant top-four, especially since you can leverage Bard early.

Also, there’s another variant you can play to save you gold – Astro Vanguards.

Astro Vanguards

If you’re like me, you start with a bunch of Vanguards but have nothing to directly transition them into. Now, you can go Astro Vanguards!

Instead of stacking Ashe as your secondary carry, stack Jhin.

Also, I’ll say this again in Dark Stars, but Jhin with Giant Slayer and a second damage item is insane. He doesn’t need a third damage item; just give him ideally Quicksilver. If not, Trap Claw, Gunblade or Bloodthirster are decent options.

Blademasters

They’re still meta and I still have no idea how to position.

Space Pirates

This is not a troll. This comp is genuinely played in top-10 Challenger and actually gets wins. According to my stats, it’s on the same strength-level as Blademasters, so not sure what to do with that info.

At level nine, do you know who you put in? Thresh, Urgot? Blitzcrank? Maybe even Riven or Janna? Nope; you literally play two GPs at level nine. I cannot wait to try the comp out.

Blaster Brawler

I had this comp a bit wrong. You put in Ziggs, GP at eight and A ‘Sol at nine.

Also, screw whatever grabage items I had on Jinx. Giant Slayer, another damage item and HoJ is the way to go.

Peeba

I have failed to top four with this comp at all. I have no idea what I’m doing, but I do know I should be prioritizing Spark more.

Dark Stars

One of the reasons this comp is so low on wins is because it’s super item dependent. You need Giant Slayer, Quicksilver on Jhin, I’d argue you need a mana item on Ashe, and I strongly believe in Solari on the frontline.

However, none of that is a problem because there’s a ton of comps to choose from, so just don’t force it and you’ll be fine.

Also, if you’re ahead, this is a great counter to Mech comps as Jhin usually four-shots Garen.

Throw in an Urgot at nine to really grief Mech players and you’re good to go.

Battlecasts

Roll for Kog’Maw and another three-star unit. Don’t overdo the rolling; that’s very crucial. As long as you have Kog three, you’re good to go.

Then, hit eight, and roll for anything you’re close to hitting. If not, go nine and throw in an Ekko.

I also have a Definitely Not Meme™ Comp you can pivot into if you only hit Kog’Maw.

Egirls

If you don’t have GA, Spark for Neeko, don’t play the comp. Syndra items are nice, but you really need a stacked Neeko to place well.

Fornari’s Definitely Not Meme™

My comps are actually coming together and I genuinely think the first one I’ll show you is a viable strat if you’re going Battlecasts and only hit Kog’Maw.

Also, I’ll go over this again, but Lucian three is a grief, so all my comps that relied on him are gone.

Hyper Roll Blasters

The more you hit, the better. However, as long as you have a Kog three, you’re good to go.

Just chill at nine and keep rolling. Blitz three is a crank, Ezreal three is decent, and having your Solari holder three, which can be Graves as well by the way, is really strong.

Also, with the Malphite buffs, Malphite three is quite good.

Don’t forget that you need a ton of Bows, but third item on Kog’Maw can be pretty much anything. It’s preferrable to build a Giant Slayer on Jinx and a different third item on Kog than not having a GS on Jinx.

E-Mech

Do you like Egirls but also like your tank one-shotting champs? Do you have a bunch of Ahris and Ziggses? Do you like memes?

If you answered yes to all these questions, then you should probably still play Egirls, but give this comp a try. I only played it once and it was pretty good. See what happens.

Also, if you don’t have Ziggs three, just play GP.

Mech Bomberman

If you get a bunch of Ziggses, try going this comp. Go six and roll your brains out until you hit enough. That’s pretty much it.

Get some items and try streaking too I guess.

Meta Update

Well, I got A LOT wrong. However, unlike some other questionable sites, TFT or otherwise, I revel in admitting my mistakes.

If I ever give you wrong information, it’s getting called out. Welcome to journalism Pog.

What I Got Right

  • Gunblade is pretty strong.
  • Playing Jinx is really good.
  • Dark Star is fairly boom, however I did call it a transition into Peeba. Peeba is fairly unplayable, so it’s probably just a standalone comp if you get perfect items and it’s an excellent counter to Mech. However, you’d probably just play Astros with Jhin stack against Mech.
  • Blitz, Malphite, Ziggs and Ahri three are lit.
  • Solari is even stronger than I thought. I play it in almost all my comps.
  • Sword Breaker is still trash.
  • The Vanguard nerf was a meme.
  • I had Cybernetics exactly as the second-best comp. Gottem!
  • I had Mech Sorc as the third-best comp. It’s the best, but close enough.
  • I had Blaster Brawler as the fourth-best comp and it’s the sixth. It’s actually pretty close to that as if you include what it pivots into, like Space Pirates and Rebels, it’s quite a strong comp.
  • I had Egirls as the second-worst comp. It’s actually the worst.
  • I had Dark Stars as the worst comp. They’re actually the third-worst.

What I Got Wrong

  • Shiv is super playable on Kog’Maw and Xayah. I’m really surprised by that, but sure.
  • Blademasters are still quite good.
  • HoJ is very strong and optimal in a few comps. Turns out the buff combined with Tear being lower priority was insane.
  • Six Rebels is barely playable, but I’d recommend playing Blaster Brawler over it. That’s why I don’t have them listed here by the way.
  • The Gangplank and Space Pirate buffs pushed the comp over the edge. For the amount of times I’ve been wrong about comps being pushed over the edge, I’m fine with being overly conservative on this one.
  • I think Nautilus still isn’t worth rolling for, but I’m not 100% sure.
  • Ezreal three isn’t that great actually. It’s playable, but going nine is probably almost always better.
  • I’d say the Darius three buff is possibly relevant as you can roll down a bit in Space Pirates, but fast-eighting should be your priority.
  • I slightly changed the items and positioning on pretty much all comps. Here’s a list: Peeba, Cybernetics, Mech Sorc, Blaster Brawler, Astro Snipers, Egirls, Dark Stars, Mech Bomberman, and Hyper Roll Blasters.
  • Peeba is pretty much boom.
  • You play GP in Blaster Brawler, not Thresh, Urgot.
  • Astro Snipers is much stronger than I thought it would be after the nerfs.
  • Lucian is a grief. As such, Chrono Cyber and Cyberroll are trash comps. At least I put them in Definitely Not Meme™ tier.

What I Didn’t Know

  • Astro Vanguards is a comp.
  • Space Pirates is a comp.
  • Tear is much lower priority.
