TL:DR
- About a minute should be shaved off your games.
- Six Assassins are now meta.
- Sivir is dead.
- Spat will be less contested.
- Zerkers are S+-tier.
- Kha'Zix still gets stunned in stealth.
The carousel "bug" that's definitely not intentional™ hasn't been fixed.Correction: The bug was fixed and not reported in the patch notes for some reason.
Game Changing
- PVE monsters are immune to Zephyr. I now don't have to wait eight seconds to kill dragon.
- Assassin deals 30 and 50 percent more damage at three and six. Firstly, the three Assassin buff was necessary. You'd literally skip three Assassins in Summ Sins in favor of a fourth Summoner. Secondly, because of the nerfs to Blademaster, spat will be less contested. This means six Assassins and three summoners is probably the fifth best comp. I'm gonna be trying it out.
- Blademasters have a 12.5 percent lower probability to ult. Also, they can only hold one and two autos at two and four Bladmasters, meaning it's much harder for them to go infinite. Blademaster Azir is still viable, but stacking Sivir is probably bad because of her nerfs.
- Karma gives 33.4 and 14.3 percent less attack speed at levels one and two. This means she is no longer an auto-include when you want a second Mystic and is another big nerf to Sivir comps.
- Sion requires 33.4 percent less mana to ult for the first time. This is a massive buff to Zerkers as you already stacked Solaris on Sion. Also, now that spat is less contested, you can have two Desert in at all points of the game other than level seven.
- Sivir now has 50, 30 and 10 percent less bounces at levels one, two and three. Sivir is dead lads!
- Kha'Zix still gets stunned in stealth.
Major
- Bramble Vest deals 25, 16.7 and 25 percent more damage at levels one, two and three.
- Bloodthirster heals for 25 percent more. The item is now much more viable on Kha'zix and Olaf. There's also a spicy Summ Sin variant I'll show y'all where it's optimal to run Bloodthirster Kha'Zix.
- Iceborn Gauntlet stuns for 66.7 percent more time. This is definitely a viable option on anything that has 70 or less mana. Definitely not optimal, but still playable.
- Luden's Echo deals 4.2, 9.4 and 25 percent more damage at levels one, two and three. This makes mid-game Luden's better and Luden's is probably the best third item on Kog'Maw.
- Shadow lasts for 20 percent longer and at six, Shadows gain 16.7 percent more damage. This may push Kindred comps over the edge and there's been a challenger player spamming only Kindred comps. Watch out mates.
- Malzahar's minions have 20 and 60 percent more health at levels two and three. He's definitely a viable temporary unit and probably a solid unit for Shadow Summs.
Minor
- There's a bunch of changes to loot boxes. Basically, you won't get as much gold, but also won't get screwed with two item, two-gold starts.
- You won't randomly get a completed item at Kruggs when you have zero items.
- Guinsoo's Rageblade gives 25 percent more attack speed. Don't get baited; this is still a bad item.
- Hextech Gunblade heals for 32 percent more. This is now the third worst item in the game.
- Desert reduces 20 percent less armor at two and 11.1 percent more at four. Great change.
- Inferno does 7.1 percent more damage at six. This fell out of favor in high Elo, but this slight buff is definitely welcome.
- Six Mage also grants 20 AP to all mages. Please do not go six Mage unless you have two Mage Caps.
- Six Woodland now clones all Woodland champions. Woodland Lux is now playable I guess?
- Leona now resists 11.2 and 14.3 percent less damage at levels two and three. She's still the best one-cost, so fair enough nerfs.
- Ezreal has 8.3 percent more health and does 12.5 percent more ability damage at all levels. This doesn't make him stronger than Kindred, but putting a Luden's on him may be quite scary. Also, putting Iceborn on Ezreal might be a good option in Rangers.
- Olaf has 5.9 percent less attack speed. With all the indirect and direct buffs to Zerkers, this is a joke. They'll probably hotfix Zerkers, or at least nerf them next Wednesday.
- The carousel "bug" that's definitely not intentional™ hasn't been fixed.
Insignificant
- PVE rounds start 10 seconds earlier. Neat.
- Locket of the Iron Solari gives 16.7 percent more health at level three. We take any buffs to level three units.
- Six Wardens now gives 2.22 times more armor. This means they go from resisting like 70 percent damage to 80 percent.
- Veigar does more spell damage. I don't understand how we haven't learned this does nothing. Literally two sets and these are still the buffs they try to push on him.
- Renekton does 18.8 percent more ability damage at level three. Wowie.
- Vladimir does 11.1 percent more ability damage at level three. Cool.
- Ashe does more ability stuff or something at three stars. We take those I guess.
Compositions
Other than Zerkers, the game will be really healthy, and since people will be contesting each other's Zerkers, non-psychopaths will have a great time!
Six assassins are viable and I discovered a really dank Summ Sin variant. Also, Ocean Mage is probably still going to be the second-best comp and Rangers probably the third as they're really strong versus Zerkers.
One small thing I discovered that I don't see many Grandmasters and Challengers doing: if you position any champion, ideally a ranged unit, directly in front of your middle carry, the carry will walk one square to the left or right instead of walking forward at the start of the round. This is exceedingly useful against Zerkers. A Janna in this position actually ruins Zerkers, especially if Olaf hasn't ulted.
Zerkers
I'll bet anything this becomes the best composition, especially since Sivir is dead and spat is less contested. The only thing I'm not sure about is positioning, but these are literally perfect items and perfect champions.
Red Buff and Hush are also really strong, but GA, RFC and Solari are the three core items you need.
Ocean Mage
Ocean Mage is still the second-best comp. The only thing that's changed is having a Luden's on Syndra feels really strong as a secondary carry and a mid-game snowballer.
Rangers
I'm not sure how good Rangers are, but I do know two things: they're good versus Zerkers and Ezreal got buffed.
I did screw up the items last patch, but we'll talk about that later.
I also think Iceborn Gauntlet may be a good item to throw on Ezreal as it'll give your Ashe a little more protection.
Summ Sins
OH BABY! My favorite comp. Don't let anyone tell you differently; this comp slaps. Oh, and they got buffed.
There are several variants you can play based on the map and champions offered, but I'll be going over the main and Cloud variants.
Stack Kha'Zix and Azir. Put a GA on Zed and you're good to go.
Summ Sins Cloud Variant
If you see a cloud map, I'd highly advise starting Sparring Gloves and forcing this comp.
You stack Malphite, put him on the furthest up cloud square, get Cloud buff and watch as your 80 percent dodge chance, two-Warden Malphite that's immune to CC tanks all the non-Ocean Mage players and knocks up their whole team.
Also, put BT on Kha'Zix instead of IE as prolonged fights will be more common and more advantageous to you.
Six Sins
If you've never seen Assassin Yorick, I feel bad for you son, 'cause I've got 99 ghouls and you ain't got one.
Note that on a cloud map, play Janna instead of Rek'Sai. Also, probably play Malphite on a Mountain map instead of Rek'Sai. If you ever get a two-star Taric or Amumu, put that in place of Rek'Sai in any situation, especially Taric.
Lights
Lights are also quite good, but not hyper-roll. You need exactly two GAs and a Morello, ideally you also have another GA, find a Light Spat and two Giant Slayers.
Meta Update
Oh boy, another update with a lot of mistakes. I got the spirit of what was good, but the specifics were very incorrect. I also had an AP-stacked Kog'Maw build as a viable build. Jesus.
What I Got Right
- Blender did die, but Nocturne got replaced by Azir, so technically right still.
- Lights are definitely viable now.
- Summ Sins are good.
- Bramble Vest is insane.
- Neeko is not only insane, but actually the most impactful champion in the game.
- Quicksilver is one of the best items in the game.
- Syndra with Luden's is definitely sick.
- Nocturne is dead.
- Titan's Resolve is definitely the worst item in the game by far.
- Ionic Spark is unplayable as well.
- I had Ocean Mage as the second-best comp. Perfectly called it!
- I had Summ Sins as the third-best and they're more like the fifth or sixth best. Close enough.
- I had Lights as the fifth best comp. Although my items were terrible, they actually were the fifth or sixth best, so still good enough.
What I Got Wrong
A lot.
To be fair, I did qualify most of my statements and it was a new season with new items. Still, let's look at some of the stupid shit I said.
- Although Blender is dead, Sivir-Azir became the best comp.
- Tear of the Goddess was not the best item, it was actually Spat followed by Rod.
- Iceborn sucks.
- Hush is okay. I'll put it here though as it's still viable.
- Lunar isn't that good and I massively undervalued Leona and Karma. Both champs individually are insane and Lunar is neat in the mid-game. If you have space and already have a Karma, Lunar is playable, but a level two Taric/ Amumu is probably better.
- Vayne still sucks. Don't hyper-roll her.
- Despite the Qiyana nerfs, she's still the best level one three-cost unit in the game.
- The Azir buffs weren't minor. They made Blademaster Azir insane.
- I said Last Whisper is an awful item. Ya, I'm Pepega.
- I have to admit it, Senna is not a bad champion... if you stack her with three items. Champion sucks. I take it back; I'm not wrong.
- Although the Twitch buffs were minor, Last Whisper makes that champion a crank. My bad.
- I have no idea what the hell Poison Summs is, but it's definitely not the best comp in the game.
- Preds suck. I thought with the buffs they'd be viable, but I was wrong. I don't feel bad about this at all, but I was still wrong.
- Lights are good, but my build was trash. You stack Senna and Lucian, and put a GA on Yorick. Also, you don't hyper-roll.
What I Didn't Know
- Rangers are good, which I put in a Meta Update. However, I didn't know you're supposed to stack Twitch and just go four Rangers and four Wardens. Oops.
- Sivir-Azir was the best comp of 10.1. Definitely had no idea about that one.
- Zerkers turned out to be the third-best comp. Neat.
